Dear mam 
hellow

this is a thanks letter and a letter about my trip to Sweden

At first I am thankful to Elsa mam and all persons who gave me a chance to come there. It was possible because of your help otherwise I could not afford this. I never thought about go to Sweden, it was only my dream. Always I wanted to come there and meet all of you. But now I think if we want something from bottom of our heart then it can be possible and now I believe dreams come true.
What I have seen in Sweden I can't explain in words because I am totally speechless. Sweden is totally different from here and for me also. Roads, people's behavior, systems, tecnology and lifestyle is very different. After this trip I felt more strong myself.
I met people in the meetings that were very polite and nice to me. They liked our program in Bheel Basti and our work. It gives me new thoughts to develop my work.
I‘ve seen there health care Center with good and helping staff.I’ve seen old age home where people lived just like in a home. I’ve seen schools and their education system. I think pupils feel free in their schools. Everywhere was very clean.I’ve seen there amazing Skansen Park in Stockholm with old wooden houses. Now I can imagine how Sweden looked many years ago.
We have done sight-seeing by boat that was very great experience for me. Around me water and water, I never seen anything like this in my life. That time I thought is this true or am I sleeping and just see a dream.

I saw there light house on an island and so called breadbasket that was unbelievable for me bcoz I’ve seen how ice moved and made big hole in the stone- ground.

Kulvinder satt här länge och begrundade hur fritt och naturligt människor rör sig tillsammans med nästan inga kläder på sig.Skulle vara omöjligt i Indien säger hon sorgset. Here K sat for a long while thinking about how natural people are moving together, with nearly no clothes on. This would be impossible in India, she says sadly.

I met in Sweden many social workers that are very honest for their work. I know I cant change community here, but I will try myself and I do my best. One thing that inspired me was the community grocery shop, fuel pumps and parking places, nobody there, but people followed the rules. I've never seen here in India.

På bryggan, första morgonen, mötte Kulvinder  Sociala omsorgschefen i Sotenäs, de hade ett samtal om socialarbetet i kommunen. At the sea the first morning k. met the social chef in the Commune Sotenäs. They had a talk about social work in the commune.

SOCIALT ARBETE I GÖTEBORG/SOCIAL WORK IN GOTHENBURG

Kulvinder får träffa en kollega, socialarbetaren Lotta Gustavsson, som är drivande bakom Konsortiet VÄGEN UT, kooperativ som stöder människors väg tillbaka till samhället efter fängelsevistelse eller andra institutioner. Här fick vi en härlig vegetarisk lunch i kooperativets Restaurang och vi fick se textilåterbruket och T-shirttryckeriet.
K. is meeting a colleague, Lotta Gustavsson,who is the spirit behind the cooperativeWAY OUT, which is supporting people on their way aou from prison or other institutions. Lotta guides us to their different activities.

Hos textilkooperativet KARINS DÖTTRAR fikar vi med Katarina, chefen som själv har erfarenhet av fängelsevistelse.
Här fick K idéer till nytt verksamhetsområde för socialarbetet hemma i Indien.

People's life style is also very different from here and I noticed women are not under pressure.They are more free and independent. Here also many women are independent but they have no right to use their salary for their own. Sometimes I think because this is our culture. But after this trip I think   why do women sacrifice always. I realized if we give respect to ourselves then others give us respect.

Before the start of my journey I was affraid and scared but I was wrong I never felt alone there, everybody was ready to help. And especially I want to say thanks to Elsa mam she was always caring me like a daughter. I lived in her house but I never felt that is not my house.

I noticed there people loved art because I met many persons who are artists.
One more thing that impressed me was their food. Their food was different but very tasty. I have eaten many type of food and I learn also. I’ve always eaten here very similar food in my life.
This trip was very educational, interesting and inspiring for me. It gave me new energy for my work.
I wish this will not be my first and last trip because I want to go there again and again and I think travels give us more energy. And our way of thinking and work can be changed with travel experiences.Now at last I want to say again thanks to all of you for your financial and moral support to me.

MÖTE OM FRAMTIDEN / MEETING ABOUT THE FUTURE

ETT BRA SAMTAL OM FORTSÄTTNINGEN FÖR MAHILA PROGRAMMET

A GOOD TALK ABOUT THE FUTURE FOR THE MAHILA PROGRAM (eng. will follow)

Kulvinder har varit i Sverige i tre veckor. Vi har alla upplevt mycket tillsammans och fått nya tankar om hur vårt projekt skall fortsätta. Nu kallar vi det inte längre ett Projekt utan det är ett PROGRAM, vilket betyder att det går över från att ha varit ett tidsbegränsat projekt till att bli ett pågående Program.
Kulvinder has been in Sweden for three weeks now. We have had many experiences together, and we have got new thoughts bout how our project should continue. From now on we don't call it a Project, now it has become a PROGRAM, which means that it is an ongoing PROGRAM. 

Kulvinder är nu Verksamhetsledare och att hon kommer att växa in i den uppgiften känner jag mig helt övertygad om.
I mötet förhandlade vi om hennes lön och höjde den från 400 Rupies/dag till 550 Rupies. Om hon arbetar full månad=22 dagar blir det 12.100 Rupies per månad. Detta är Kulvinder nöjd med.
Eftersom hon inte arbetar så många dagar alla månader så får hon en minsta lön på 6050 Rs som en garantilön och tillägg med 550 Rs för varje dag hon arbetar för mer än 6050 upp till 12100 för full månad.
1000 Rupies = 130 kronor
Kulvinder kommer att fortsätta att skriva rapport om senaste månads arbete i början av varje ny månad. På så sätt kan vi följa hennes arbete och kostnader i detalj månad för månad.
Hon gör en rapport för Flickornas Skolgång och en för övrig verksamhet, som innefattar broderiena och allt övrigt arbete med kvinnorna och byn. Somliga månader är arbetet med flickornas skolgång inte så tidskrävande.
Kulvinder is now the activity leader. Her salary will rise to 550 Rs / day. With a guaranteed salary on 6050 Rs/month. And for full month's work will be 12100 Rs. ( 1000 Rupies= 130 SEK
Kulvinder will continue to write the detailled reports for every month in beginning of the following month. So we can follow her work and costs from month to month. She makes one report for the Girl's schooling and one for the rest of activities ( embroideries and women contacts) The economy will still be in Sweden and we will remain as mentors. Kulvinder will learn how to write the blogs herself not to depend on Elsa's work...

Monika tells about her idea with the girls writing diary. The elder girls will get each one fine note-book, where to write about happenings and thoughts, fears and joyful things.Parts of these notes could be collected and put together in a book, in English, swedish and hindi....
This book could be illustyrated with the girls embroidered pictures. It could be a very interesting book. Of course they will be printed under the girl's pseudonyms.

Ankomsten till Landvetter Britta och Elsa mötte, dock en halvtimme försenade, så där fick Kulvinder nog lite fjärilar i magen, men hon hade redan en plan för hur hon skulle göra, om något hade hänt...

För första gången i flygplan.

Innan resan var K så rädd, indisk kvinna reser INTE ensam. Sambo och broder följde till Delhi 2 ggr för visum och sedan t. flygplatsen. Också rädd för att var ensam i främmande land.

…och badvattnet var härligt, mn inte för K! Inte ännu- senare blev det ett  djärvt dopp, men det får inte visas för offentligheten.

På barnavårdscentralen och Öppna förskolan i Tanumshede. Tack till alla som ställde upp och gav Kulvinder ett gott intryck av vårt välfärdssystem. Hon noterade särskilt pappornas deltagande och den vänliga stämning som rådde.
In child care center and Open day care center. She noticed the father's participation and the friendly atmosphere.

På mödravårdsentralen. Här förstod hon att mammorna blev mycket snällt mottagna. I Indien  vet hon att bemötandet är mycket bryskt. Gud nåde den kvinna som visar att hon har ont under förlossningen.
Kulvinder noticed that the attitude towards the mothers were very friendly.

I en sjätteplats handlade lektionen om Hinduismen. Lämpligt kunde tyckas, Bara det att Kulvinder bekänner sig till Sikhismen. Helt annorlunda än hinduismen. Det blev ett bra samtal om alla religioner som existerar. Och att respektera allas tro.                                                      

I Näverstads kyrka fick Kulvinder en genomgång av reformationen och skillnaden mellan Katolicismen och Protestantismen av Monikas dotter Ida.

Hos Monika fick Kulvinder bo i denna lilla söta stuga, helt ensam med skogen utanför. Nära intill Monikas hus, men ändå var det    en       skärrande erfarenhet.Hon berättade att hennes familj hade varit undrande inför detta att många kvinnor tycks bo ensamma i  Sverige--har de ingen som beskyddar dem…! FRÅN KVÄLLEN på GERLESBORGSSKOLAN då vi samtalade om vårt arbete i Bheel Basti. Kvällen då Kulvinder, som aldrig hade talat offentligt ens hemma i Indien, nu gjorde hon det inför 40-50 personer på engelska!
This was the evening when Kulvinder for the first time in her life talked in a meeting for 40-50 persons - and she did it in English!

TILL STOCKHOLM

Ja, här sitter vi som så många andra har gjort turister tar turistkort, och försöker känna hur det kan ha varit. Inne i storstugan satt en kvinna och vävde helt naturligt.

Vi råkade passera vid vaktavlösningen kl. 12 och där står  tennsoldaten som skall skydda kungliga slottet-- och Kulvinder. The guard outside The King's palace

Under Stockholms Broar, 11/2 timmes båttur, som gav även mig aha-upplevelser! Nya vinklar på vår vackra huvudstad. Kulvinder var hänförd! Sight-seeing under the bridges of Stockholm!

Lunch under almarna, Here we had Lunch, Theese trees were saved by activists in the 70-ties, when the City planned to  build a Metro-entrance here. People climbed the trees, they even slept there! The protest lasted for 14 days or more!

Vi åkte några hållplatser med T-banans Blå Linje, den med nya upplevelser på varje station. Världsunik.
  We went by the Metro's Blue Line where every station is a new experience made by different artists for every stop.

                                                                             

                                                                      

Vi bodde hos gästfria vänner och fick stor frukost på verandan och härlig morgonvandring i den vackra trädgården
We stayed comfartably in our friends House and had great breakfasts and morning-walks in the beautyful garden.
